Golden milk, in loose leaf. Turmeric is a rhizome, a cousin of ginger, and India grows and eats around eighty percent of the world supply. It has been in the kitchen and the household medicine cabinet there for something like four thousand years, and the same root that colors a curry is the one that colors this blend.

The supporting cast is what marks it as an Indian recipe rather than an invention: cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, black pepper and tulsi - holy basil, the plant kept in a pot by the door of Hindu households and treated as sacred rather than culinary. The black pepper is not there for heat; pairing the two is simply the traditional practice.

How it is used: steeped in hot water, or simmered in milk the way haldi doodh is made at home. Earthy and warm, sweet with cinnamon, and it will stain a white mug.

Ingredients: Organic turmeric root, organic cinnamon, organic tulsi, organic ginger, organic cardamom, organic cloves and organic black pepper.

Brewing Suggestions

• Bring 1 cup filtered water to 212ºF. 
• Measure 1-2 tsp of tea per 1 cup of water.
