Turmeric & Black Seed African Black Soap

The same West African black soap - plantain skin and cocoa pod ash cooked with plant oils - with turmeric root and black seed oil worked into it.

Turmeric is what gives it the ochre colour and the earthy smell. It has gone on skin across South Asia and West Africa for centuries - most visibly in the haldi ceremony held before Indian weddings, where the paste is rubbed on the bride and groom for the glow it leaves behind. Black seed - Nigella sativa - comes from the same part of the world and has been pressed for its oil since antiquity.

How to use it

As a body wash or a face cleanser. Work into a lather, rinse well, follow with a moisturiser. Turmeric can leave a faint yellow cast on very fair skin and on white towels - it rinses out, but use a dark cloth.

What is in it

Organic turmeric root powder, cocoa pod ash, plantain skin ash, shea butter, black seed oil, turmeric essential oil, vitamin E oil.

Avoid if you are sensitive to turmeric. Free from harsh chemicals and phthalates, not tested on animals. External use only. Patch test first.
