From China

Gold and silver flower. Jin yin hua means gold and silver flower, and it is a description rather than a flourish: the blossom opens white and fades to yellow, so one vine carries both colors at the same time. Picking has to happen in the narrow window before the buds open.

It is one of the most familiar herbs in China - bottled honeysuckle tea is sold cold in every convenience store in the south through the summer. The same vine grows as an aggressive weed across much of the United States, which is a strange thing to think about while drinking it.

How it is used: a small handful of dried buds steeped in hot water, often together with chrysanthemum. Light, sweet and faintly grassy. Usually drunk cool.
