African Black Soap Body Wash with Colloidal Oatmeal for Dry & Sensitive Skin

African black soap is made the way it has been made in West Africa for centuries: plantain skins and cocoa pods are dried and roasted down to ash, and that ash is cooked with plant oils. The ash is what gives it the grey-brown colour and the faint smoky smell, and it is why traditional black soap cleans as thoroughly as it does with no detergent in it at all.

This is the liquid version, softened with colloidal oatmeal - oats milled fine enough to stay suspended in water instead of sinking. Oatmeal has been going into bathwater for about as long as people have had oats, and it is here for the same reason: it takes the edge off a soap that can otherwise feel brisk.

How to use it

A dime-sized amount on wet hands, a washcloth or a loofah. Work up a lather, wash, rinse well. Follow with an oil or a moisturiser while the skin is still damp - black soap rinses very clean, and that is the moment it is easiest to put moisture back.
